Exclamation New year, new skin. Corn strip show!

Wow... is it unusual for a snake to eat and shed in the same day in that order? I knew he was getting close to shed time, dulling of the skin and hiding even more than usual, but I figured I'd offer him a pink anyway just to see if he'd eat. He gobbled it down happily and I returned him to his tank. That was a few hours ago.

Then, just now, I looked up and there's all kinds of squirming around in the substrate. Being an alarmist I hurried over and his skin is halfway down his neck! I grab the camera, because that's the kind of mommy I am. He's only shed once before in his young life, and this is his second one. I'm so excited I caught it this time! I just hope he keeps down that pinkie after all this!

We found his first shed behind the Greek ladies too. Apparently, it's perfect for shedding purposes. Poor little guy seems pooped now. He's curled up in the blue flowers all sleepy. I'm gonna let him be and get the shed out of there tomorrow when he's sleeping in his hide.

Oh, I know Brandon, I never handle a snake right after feeding aside from putting him back in his tank. I usually feed him Sunday then don't handle him till late Wed. /(^v^)\
