Housing of Irian Jaya Carpet Python.

How long can my 30 gallon tank hold a male Irian Jaya carpet python? The tank size is 12 inches deep, 12 inches tall and 36 inches wide.

I am seriously looking at Carpet Pythons again.

Re: Housing of Irian Jaya Carpet Python.

newborn carpets are housed in 12-quart tubs measuring approximately 16*11*6 inches and once the animals outgrow the 12-quart tubs (breeders have different opinions on when this is, move them up at about a year of age or three feet) they are moved into 28-quart tubs measuring approximately 23*17*6 inches. Although most adult males could probably be housed in a tub of this size their entire life without incident, I feel it is too small and provides little stimulation. I rather prefer to house adult males in enclosures measuring approximately 24*22*14 or 36*18*18, depending on the size of the male. Adult females are housed in enclosures measuring approximately 36*18*18 or 48*20*20.
