    Cool Side to Warm???

Current numbers in a Dubia Roaches 4x2x2 with Zilla jungle mix and a ph1220 from pro products:

    Hot side ambient:88*F/68%
    Hot side hide top surface:93*F
    Hot side floor:86*F

    Cool Side Ambient:83*F/61%
    Cool side hide top surface:83*F
    Cool side floor:80*F

Anyone have any ways to lower the cool side?

Its a screen top with a blanket on it for now. PVC sheet top is in the works. I know the white hides may not be the best. I'm working on changing the out soon. Trying to narrow down a range since there is so much info on the web about it. He is in a half ass glass tank right now. Just trying to get him in the new home and ill add decor and such in time.

Room temp stays about 74* and on the side of the tank on both sides i have 1/4" holes drilled about 1/2" in a 4" about 11" up the side.

Your cool side temps look fine to me. Your hot side temps are a little high, so you could lower your thermostat setting a couple degrees.

    Re: Cool Side to Warm???

Thanks, currently the t-stat probe is about 3 inches under the RHP and set for 95.5 with the top of the hit hitting about 92*F

Ill drop it to 93.5 over night and see what the numbers look like.

I also have two diff thermo/hygro brands and when i switch them the number come out 2-3 degrees different than the other one.

I guess i got worried due to the fact I thought for some reason there HAD to be a 10*F gradient. The 5-7* degree range seems to be what I'm seeing as ok.

Should I trust the accurate or the bio dude gauges???

What's your preferance on the gauge brand?

    Thanks again!

I've used Exoterra and Accurite and they both worked fine, though I mostly rely on my temp gun.

I gauge the gradient range as the difference between the hottest and coolest temp. By that measure, you have a 13 degree gradient. So, you're golden.
