Is there something particularly dangerous about the probe wire not being glued down? If there is I will certainly glue it. But the worst I’ve read about is it being pooped on if moved out of the substrate. The probe itself is attached to the bottom of the tank via a suction cup, the wire leading out is the thing not secured, for clarification.

Temps sound good. Stick on hooks don't. I had a temp/humidity gauge in my BP's enclosure. The gauge was attached to the side of the enclosure with velcro but the velcro was stuck on the gauge. One day, I found the velcro on the other side of the enclosure. Somehow, he managed to remove the gauge from the side of the enclosure and the velcro from the back of the gauge. So, when people say no tape in the enclosure because your snake will find a way to get stuck to it, I believe them. Post a pic of your current set up, and maybe we'll be able to suggest some alternatives.

Yeah .. any kind of tape in a viv / RUB / tank is a definite 100% no-no !!

The probe needs to be securely placed. If it gets dislodged, then it won't properly regulate your heat source and your temps could get dangerously high. The suction cup that comes with the probe is not very secure. I wouldn't trust it.

THIS ^ ^ ^ EXACTLY. Loose probes can be dangerous & result in the death of your pets when the t-stat over-reacts.

We only want what's best for your pets around here. Eventually those corners you cut come back to bite. Loose wires are loved by snakes that are always looking for traction, for things to hang onto & pull themselves thru. If they're not loose now, they will be.
