Herpstat 1 issues
Hi,
I am looking for some advice regarding some issues recently. After waking one morning and finding my Herpstat display black with no readings I went into trouble shooing mode. After a factory reset I have discovered that the Herpstat is no longer powering my heating device which is specifically in this case a under tank heater.
The heater has been tested elsewhere and works just fine. When plugged into the Herpstat, no heat.
I am wondering if anyone has ever sent their Herpstat in for repair and what your experiences were.
How long did it take to get it back etc. Any feedback would be helpful.
Thanks

Yikes, is it under warranty still? At least you noticed right away.

I had a screen issue once that they sent me out the parts for me to install (my choice; they would have taken it in for repairs). They were great to deal with. Since you're in Canada shipping times would likely be the bulk of the wait, I would think.
Have you contacted Spyder to see if it needs to be sent in? There is at least one user-replaceable fuse in the unit:

Re: Herpstat 1 issues
Thanks for your thoughts.
I did email Spyder Robotics and they said if it’s not getting power to the heater then i would need to send it in for repair.
i am not sure it’s under warranty. I purchased it 6 years ago.

Re: Herpstat 1 issues
They are always going to stand by their products at Spyder Robotics. They will test the unit and determine where the issues lie. 6 yrs is not a lot for the herpstat although I don’t know for sure what time frame the individual units are warrantied for. Mine have been working fine for the past 12 years. I have had to email them a couple of times and it turned out to be the old heat tape and not the thermostat. Has the unit been dropped or banged around that you know of? I’m sure they will give you the benefit of any doubt.
Stay in peace and not pieces.
