    Feeeing advice

I could use some suggestions/help for feeding today please!
I have been getting pretty lucky with the frozen fuzzy rats I have been getting at the store (they usually range from 24-29g) but this box is a lot smaller than usual.

I thawed one and it only weighs 18g. When I weighed Severus on Sunday and he just hit the 300g mark so I am thinking this 18g rat is not enough?

The other 2 rats I have weighed (frozen) are both 21g and I do have a frozen small mouse that weighs 14g. Should I feed the 18g thawed rat and then offer another? We have had Severus since mid July and he has been a fantastic eater (comes out ready as soon as we offer and has never missed a weekly feeding)

I have only ever fed him one each week, so if I offer 2, how much time do you wait after the first one before you give the second?

    Thanks in advance!

You feed Severus every week, which is fine.

I would offer the 18G or 21G F/T rat and then feed again in a week. At his size, if eating 24-29G rats, you can feed every 7-10 days. But I wouldn't feed more than every 7, even if a smaller meal every once in a while.

To be clear, a smaller meal won't hurt him, he just won't grow as fast from that one rat. If he's happily eating F/T rats, I wouldn't introduce a mouse at this point. Stick with what he will eat for life.

Agree with dakski. If you do ever feed two for any reason, I'd offer the second immediately after it fully swallows. If you wait too long, feeding response goes away, and if you were to like wait a day or two, he might take it but it's going to be really rough to digest.
