    Is super glue safe?

I am in the process of having my boyfriend 3d print vents for my PVC enclosure. However one part of them will need to be stuck together by a small amount of super glue. I've heard mixed things about whether this is safe or toxic for snakes. We will let it cure and air out as it dries etc but is super glue toxic even after that or is it safe? And I've heard that some adhesives can release toxic fumes under heat (90f hotspot??) so I'm not sure. It's a fairly small amount, just to stabilize one part to another. What do y'all think?

I've used it for emergency sutures for years on not only animals, but myself. Many human surgeons and animal veterinarians have for certain applications as well. I would imagine if studies cannot find severe side effects from direct contact, before curing, with open wounds like that, using it to glue a cage part is probably just fine. Great thing to keep around for emergencies, always a part of my first aid kits. I think parrots are the only group of animals I can think of I would be really afraid of with it because they are so incredibly sensitive to chemicals.

No, Super Glue is not "hot glue"- that's a whole different thing.

I agree with nikkubus- Super Glue dries fume-free as far as I know- so for a cage vent should be fine.

I've used super glue for snake stuff before, for fixes and otherwise small things. As long as it dries before being anywhere around the animal you should be fine.

    Re: Is super glue safe?

Due to how bulky hot glue is compared to super glue probably wouldn't work. It's a very small part of the vent I need to attach and there is not a lot of surface area.

And thanks for the answers guys, I'll make sure to let it sit and cure for a couple days before coming anywhere near the snake anyway.
