Re: Recent purchase and have a few questions

Gunna post a few more pictures of my normal type now. Gunna leave my pied alone for a few days. He seems awful skittish and I wanna let him relax and not stress.

He's a nice looking snake- with or without genetic "bonuses". Snakes are usually quite confused & afraid when in a new home, so yes, it's better to let them just settle in- they'll get an appetite sooner if they can relax & feel safe, but also it's likely their immune system functions better when they're not under stress also.

Unhappy Re: Recent purchase and have a few questions

My normal type is healthy, has a nice gradient of hot to cool. No less than 75 on cool side and high to mid 80’s on warm side. 2 water dishes, 2 hides. Her shed was complete from snoot to tail for last 2 sheds. She hasn’t eaten since october. I offer food once a week or if she seems super active, but still nothing. Should I start to worry yet?

As long as you don’t see any signs of illness I believe this inappetance is going to end. Weigh her once every seven days and just bump up the temperature to 92F on the warm spot. Keep a running list of the weekly weight and as long as it’s not above a 50 gm or more loss I would think you’re ok. Keep plenty of fresh water available and consider switching the substrate to 100% cypress mulch when you can. Not the Home Depot brands of mixed cypress mulch. Nor the Lowes brand that may be mixed or red. The one you need is “all living things” brand or the “forest floor” brand.

For Nagini that is what i use. I only used the Aspen bedding with the pied because that’s what they were using and I wanted the transition to be as smooth as possible.
