Tinley! Tinley! Tinley!
It is back and it is back big time. NARBC Tinley Park provides a unique atmosphere that draws thousands of reptile enthusiasts and it all happens this weekend. For over 20 years NARBC has been doing it right in Chicagoland and this show will do it again. USARK appreciates the continued support from Bob, Brian, Kristin, and the NARBC crew.

Do not forget about the USARK benefit auction Saturday night following the show. Thank you to all donors, bidders, volunteers, and supporters who make these events possible. USARK would not be here to watch out and fight for the herp community without you.

From NARBC: "The auction is our way of supporting USARK. It's a great time for getting together after the show Saturday night with friends from all over the world. If you don't know who USARK is, you need to find out. The night includes an auction with 100% of the proceeds going to USARK. We ask that everyone attending give something for the auction. Your help will be returned to you as USARK fights for our rights to own and sell herps."

The auction has both live and silent portions so there are opportunities for everyone. Show attendees can come and hang out with the vendors while enjoying the always amusing antics performed by Brian Potter.

Lacey Act Article: Veterinarians voice concerns about proposed Lacey Act amendment
Read the article at https://usark.org/lacey1a/

snippet: Dr. José Arce, president of American Veterinary Medical Association, said in a written statement provided to the VIN News Service: “Although well-intentioned, the AVMA opposes the Lacey Act language that was quietly included in the America Competes Act [that was] recently passed by the U.S. House of Representatives. … We have serious concerns about the legislation as it may impact access to care for wildlife and exotic animals, as well as create regulatory barriers to care through additional permitting of research institutions.”

ALERT: Connecticut
Connecticut House Bill 5293 (HB5293) is another “traveling animal act” ban with broad-sweeping implications. HB5293 prohibits using most animals (see below) in mobile educational programs, which will include the outreach programs provided by many animal keepers. The stated purpose, “To prohibit the use of wild and exotic animals in traveling circuses.” is disingenuous and misleading as the consequences go well beyond circuses, and the radical animal rights groups that write these bills know it.
This is a ban on educational programs in classrooms, public libraries, at Scout Troop meetings, and more. Get all details and action steps at https://usark.org/22ct/.
