    Bull or Gopher ?

Hey guys, i have a normal male sonoran gopher snake.....or a bull snake, im not exactly sure of what he is, no matter where i look both species look identical !!

I was thinking about buying an albino female and breeding them a couple years down the road, my question is. What species should a buy ? A gopher or a Bull snake ?

If these two species crossed would it be a problem ?

    Re: Bull or Gopher ?

it wouldnt be a problem if they hybridized. gopher x bull hybrids are already available to hobbyists. im pretty sure it would be like the equivelant of two boa species hybridiizing. i think their was a thread on a bull x gopher hybrid here a couple months ago, you might be able to search it out if you want.

    Re: Bull or Gopher ?

Here he is, its not a very good picture of him but you get the idea. Ill try to get some good pictures tomorrow.

The reason im asking is becuase i was thinking about breeding boas but even in a few years(that would be me in college) i might not have to the room and money to maintain two large breeding boas and so that got me thinking about this little guy, he is such a sweet snake, very curious and well behaved. I think that thier adult size would be great, i love heavy bodied colubrids, not to big and not so small.

    Re: Bull or Gopher ?

when you get better pics try to get the whole body, the rear 3rd of the snake, and get a clear side view of the snake.

we have gopher snakes all over our property and im the resident gopher snake expert it looks a lot like a bull to me but i very easily could be wrong

    Re: Bull or Gopher ?

Yes he does kinda slither like a sidewinder, his body is almost never straight when he moves and he moves very fast.

    Re: Bull or Gopher ?

Looks like a sonoran gopher snake, not a bull snake.

    Re: Bull or Gopher ?

It looks very much like my son's Sonoran Gopher, but my son's snake is an albino, so I can't be sure.
