HELP requested with new injured snake

We have just bought our girl, Triss, I say bought more of a rescue really, she has a burn and apparently hasn't eaten for months. She is placid and tame but we have never had a pet like this before and are quite concerned

I had a snake with a SEVERE burn wound. We don't know how he did it, either previous caging or the heat pack during delivery. It took him months to heal and he is still handicapped from it. It took around 5 months for him to start eating on his own.

It will take them a while to get back on food. Try offering a smaller sized prey item. they're uncomfortable. it hurts. They don't want to stretch the wounded area for a meal. They'll try to wait it out, but they have VERY slow metabolisms. If they are becoming too thin, you may need to assist feed a small prey item or tube feed. There's ups and downs for both. I had to assist feed my little guy about 4 months in.

The silver sulfa cream is still one of the best things to be doing, but the cage needs to be clean paper towels that are changed regularly along with a soak between applications to let the area clean up gently. If he's on mulch with a wound, that it going to keep hindering the healing process.

I would get back in touch with your vet to see what's going on. if there is still an open wound and shedding scales after 3 months, that is not a normal healing process. He should be well on the way to healing at that point with a small burn.

Your vet may also prescribe injected antibiotics to ward off infection.

Can you get pictures of it? A vet is the best choice for a severe burn. For a non-severe burn silver sulfadiazine helps. If the snake is thin then it would be good to get her to eat a small food item (to avoid discomfort). If the snake isn't thin then helping the burn should be the first priority.
