    NARBC St. Louis! Plus, ESA listings.

    NARBC is back in St. Louis!
    The online chatter has been building and lots of people are ready for NARBC this weekend. This will be the second NARBC show here and we will definitely see only bigger and better! As always, huge thanks to Bob, Brian, Kristin, and the NARBC crew for their continued USARK support.

    Egyptian Tortoise ESA Listing
    The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has proposed to list the Egyptian tortoise (Testudo kleinmanni) as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. Read the federal register posting at https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2021/11/09/2021-23839/endangered-and-threatened-wildlife-and-plants-threatened-species-status-with-section-4d-rule-for.The comment deadline is January 10, 2022.

    Alligator Snapping Turtle ESA Listing
    The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has proposed to list the alligator snapping turtle as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. The comment deadline is January 10, 2022. Read all of the details at https://www.fws.gov/southeast/faq/proposed-listing-of-the-alligator-snapping-turtle-under-the-endangered-species-act/.The Service has scheduled a virtual public meeting and hearing on December 7, 2021, from 7:00 – 9:30 p.m. EST via Zoom. This virtual public meeting is intended to give the public an opportunity to learn more about the proposed listing of the alligator snapping turtle and an opportunity to comment on the proposal. Registration is required and can be done online at: https://www.fws.gov/southeast/wildlife/reptiles/alligator-spanning-turtle/#virtual-meeting-and-hearing.
