Ball python still climbing walls and trying to get out

My BP is still climbing his enclosure walls every night and glass surfing. Today I even spotted him trying to squeeze his nose through the gap between the sliding doors. Is something wrong?
I am prettz sure everything in the enclosure should be right for him. Temps, hides, branches. I tought he would settle down after 5 weeks.

Humidity 55 to 70 percent.
Temperatures hot side 85 , cool side 79/80 , hot spot 88/89

the hides are plastic boxes, same two. one on the cool side, one on the hot side.

Some snakes are naturally more active than others. I have a few adult snakes that are very active at night. If it’s only been five weeks since you’ve had him I’d think he’s still curiously acclimating to the new environment. I wouldn’t be too concerned, especially if he’s eating well.

I'd add what kind of tank/cage is he in? Is it covered on several sides like a PVC enclosure or with cardboard if it's a glass tank? If not, that might help him feel secure.

Additionally, how are you taking temps (thermometer, IR Temp Gun, etc.)? You want the ground temps taken with an IR temp gun.

Generally, wandering around at night could mean looking for food. However, lack of security and temps too high can lead to that as well. If it's during the day, it's more concerning.

I agree that he should be pretty settled by now.

How big is he (weight) and what is he eating (type of prey and size)? If not sure of weight, does the food item leave a noticeable bulge or it is just right or you don't notice it at all after he eats? Also, how often is he eating?

Please answer the questions as best you can. Snakes do like to squeeze into tight places and can be curious about exploring, but I would want to rule out everything else first, before assuming all is fine.

EL-Ziggy makes a good point. Probably nothing.

However, and no offense Ziggy, a young BP and BP's in general (but especially a young one) are very concerned with feeling safe and secure and would probably prefer feeling safe in a hide than exploring.

Having said that, there can absolutely be different personalities, etc. As stated, I would want to make sure everything is right on, and if we do, you are probably 100% correct Ziggy.

That’s not necessarily true, I’ve had hatchlings roaming around tanks 24/7 when I used to keep them in tanks. Still ate fine and no health problems whatsoever

My Ball comes out many nights. My GTP, ETB, and BRB cruise almost every night except after feeding or during a shed. My Col and Dwarf Boa also come out often at night, they will actually cruise during the day some as well.

I'm with Ziggy and think probably nothing is wrong.

If my snakes are eating and shedding well I let them do as they please and stopped trying to figure them out long ago. I swear snakes do things just to make their owner worry.

Thank you both for the input. I only keep one BP right now (have had her for 9 years) and she's a shy one.

If everything is spot on I agree, the snake is likely 100% fine.

The fact that he/she is eating is a great indicator of that.

Sometimes I forget that many new keepers and/or keepers with fewer reptiles than I have now spend more time watching than I probably do at this point. Most of my interactions are during the day interacting, cleaning, and checking temps, etc.

Having said all that, taking this post in isolation, I think it's wise to make sure things are in order as stated.
