    RIP Pooh

My sweet little panda hamster, Pooh, passed away yesterday. She was probably the best little rodent I've ever had. She tolerated my daughter trying to wash her in a bucket, and even got out once but came to me when I called for her. She ate from my hand, and never bit. I'll miss her a lot.

    Re: RIP Pooh

Sorry to hear - a non-biting hamster is a rarity (in the string of those we've had in the past). Did she just expire from age?

I have some cute b/w "mittened" rats if thats any condolence you are welcome to one.

I forgot to post the picture...

Thanks guys! My then 3 year old daughter open her cage pulled her out and proceeded to 'wash' her in a bucket. Poor little thing. But no she never bit....even if provoked. She was 2.5 years, so it wasn't a complete shock. She was starting to turn all white, she had so much gray hair.

I'm actually contemplating breeding rats. I'm just trying to figure out how to explain to the kids why the population keeps decreasing.

Oh no she was fine, if a little soaked. No, she passed away from old age. That's just one of my favorite stories about her. (I was wondering why the kids were giggling so much, and went to investigate)

    Re: RIP Pooh

What a wonderful picture Christie! Those critters of yours all like your kid's toys it seems LOL. 2 and a half is a grand old age for a hammie so good for you all giving her such a long life full of much love and good care. I'm sure you will miss her and the kids will be sad. It's hard at such a young age to understand that some of our pets just don't live as long as we wish they could (heck that's hard enough for an adult to comprehend sometimes).

Thoughts are with you and your family and dear little Pooh the Pirate Queen of the Hamster Set.

Well you know - young rats grow up quick, hon . . and . . uhm . . . then they have to , you know, go off to rat college. Times are tough, shug - they need to earn a decent wage too

I'm so sorry... our pet mice passed away just recently too, so I know how you feel... it's tough with the little ones... they have such big personalities for such short lifespans.

    Re: RIP Pooh

It just about broke my heart when I told the kids (after they got home from school). My 4 yr old daughter had tears running down her face, and the fattest lip you ever saw. I almost ran and got another one right there, but I'm going to see how things go and then maybe we'll have some more rodents. (There's the cutest little black hamster at the local pet store, but I don't know how sweet she is....maybe.....)

Thanks a lot guys. She was just the coolest little thing!
