F10 - lingering smell
Used F10 for the first time this weekend. Did well except I missed the bit about using on non-porous surfaces. A couple days later there's a lingering smell to the large, hardwood climbing branches in both cages. These were air dried before placing back into the newly cleaned enclosures, but is this safe? I'm venting both enclosures several times per day to get the humidity down from the new damp substrate, but is this sufficient to make the porous branches safe?
Thanks!

I do use F10 but if I had this issue I think I would put the branches out side in the sun. Of course I live in Texas so it's like putting them in the oven right now.

That's what I'd do too, what he said ^ ^ ^ ^ ^. But first I'd probably try rinsing the branches (or soaking if you can) in fresh water, hoping to dilute the traces of F10 before evaporation in the heat.

Re: F10 - lingering smell
I use F10sc in my rhacodactylus branches.
Spray f10sc and leave for ten minutes.
Then rinse off the branches w water.
Then let dry for 24 hours or as long as needed.
Never had an issue.
Make sure you are using the F10sc and that the concentration is appropriate.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I took them all back out, hosed them off, and then let them dry in the 90 degree sun for a few hours. It's definitely the F10sc which says it's safe to air dry without rinsing, but in the future I'll avoid using it on porous wood items such as my sanded driftwood branches.
In the end, I may have been a little paranoid as there's a faint odor coming off of the new substrate that isn't too dissimilar from what I thought I was smelling on the F10 branches. Better safe than sorry I suppose.

It's been a while since I used F10- I've since gone back to generic chlorhexidine (well-diluted) for cleaning & it's what I use to spray on branches also- no scent remains that I can discern, even if I don't rinse them, & since I don't rinse cages either (only wipe them dry), I doubt there's any health issue. BUT, F10 is a stronger disinfectant- a different chemical formulation- so for being on the side of caution, as they say. I'd have been concerned & rinsed them too.
