    Am I missing something...?

Randomly browsing Morph Market and hit the most expensive tab just to see what crazy combos there are to look at, and at the very top of the list I instead saw, this?

How in the world is a double het normal asking for 40k? And it's not like the hets are super rare genes either. Very puzzling.

Just remember there's often a big difference between "asking price" & what something actually sells for, whether it's a snake or anything else. I see ridiculous prices asked all the time by sellers just hoping to get lucky & find the right clueless buyer. (And I'm not saying THIS snake isn't worth it, but it sure wouldn't be to me, & obviously it's not to you either.) Some sellers ask "for the moon" because they can always come down, but if they price something too low, it's hard to try to jack up the price later.

Oh I'm aware of such practice. It's just that this is such an extreme case to the point of bafflement. Even the results of those two hets (dreamsicle) goes for a mere fraction of the price. Certainly not cheap by any means but the 2k they go for is a far cry from 40k.

But hey, as long as there are ignorant people with more money than they know what to do with, there will always be those at the ready to take advantage of them.

Prices like these are buyers trying to get more views. A lot of people do exactly what you did and it makes their snake stand out. Fake prices are against MorphMarket's policy. This seller has a lot of other snakes listed for a good price which makes me think it's a genuine error, especially since the morphs were mislabeled (het axanthic in title but not gene list).

An how long would it take to prove out? Looks like a $40 PetSmart normal to me.

When I see an ask like that whether trucks, livestock or snakes I just walk away. I'm not gonna waste time even looking at the website.
Some sales tactics work better then others I guess.

My best guess is they added two extra zeros on accident. 400 doesn't seem crazy for that. I know a lot of times when I'm doing paypal and banking stuff they make it look like you are trying the entire amount including cents, but they actually only expect you to type the dollars and I have to fix it.

I’m inclined to think it’s a typo too but who knows. I also believe that any seller and buyer can come to any mutually agreeable terms even if they seem extreme or unbelievable to others. People have paid more for less.

A typo was my next guess too, since the breeder doesn't seem "off" otherwise.

Apparently the "starving artists" have got it all wrong, they just need to have the mindset of a con artist.
