Re: Am I feeding my ball python the correct size?

Okay thank you, I'll try that! I should have done more local research for food I thought I could get it from Petco but Petco sucks haha. Thanks again. I appreciate the help! Beginners make mistakes, I'm trying my best to make her the happiest lil noodle. I'm just so grateful that she's eating for me, she has a great feeder response!

No problem. Don't sweat it, all of us have made newbie mistakes. You do your best to plan ahead, but sometimes it just doesn't occur to you every little thing that can be a challenge. Glad she is eating for you too, that's a big challenge for most new bp owners.

Congratulations on your new BP. I agree that you’d be better off buying in bulk online. Even with just one snake it’s more economical and efficient than buying from most pet stores. I prefer to get my feeders from Big Cheese, Cold Blooded Cafe, or Perfect Prey. I had a couple of bad experiences with Rodent Pro and won’t be using them anymore. I also agree that adult mice or rat pups are good prey sizes for now.

Petco prices will $$$$ you. As posted but online or look for local prey breeders. Book of face an the like. You will find "pet" breeders, don't tell them about the snake. Also, many local dog pounds, pet shelters will have rodents of all sizes, "pets" free.

As for prey sizes look here, it's a good start.

    Ball Python Feeding Guidelines (ball-pythons.net)

If you have to buy live an can't gas them. Buy a .50 mouse trap an use it break the neck, fast an easy. Then freeze them as it helps to kill any nasties the pry might have. (If you feed live or fresh killed you need to know the supplier. You don't want your reptile getting parasites from prey.)

    Good luck!

Re: Am I feeding my ball python the correct size?

Update, I found a feed breeder and actually applied a job working for them so I get free mice and rats whenever! Unfortunately the location I'm working at doesn't have weaned or rat pups yet they are still babies so I have to wait two weeks for them to be of age to feed. But at least I found someone! The mice I grabbed are around 25-30g so it's perfect size. Also learned how to kill the live ones so that was an interesting experience, one of them bit me so I don't feel to bad lol. Thanks for y'alls help!

Congrats! They should be able to give you much better prices than petco and a lot more choices in size.
