    SD retics mansions

Jack and Sally got a freight delivery earlier this week. Looks like I'm going to be doing some assembly this weekend. I ordered these in mid July of 2020. So after 10.5 months, multiple phone calls and promises of they will ship next week, unanswered emails...etc they are finally here. They each are getting an A35 (72L x 24D x 48H).

Each enclosure is sliding glass doors and will have casters for ease of moving. 2" foam on the bottom since they will be on a basement floor. Additional 3" vent with fan. Large sky hide, basking shelf, swinging rope perches, humid hide, 18 qt water basin. It's been so long I forget which heat panel got installed but they will be controlled by a herpstat 4.

That’s hot stuff. I can’t wait to see the finished product! I’m running a little behind on some caging. I need to upgrade my Olive and scrub.

That wait time is beyond absurd to state things lightly. Glad you’ve got them in hand now and looking forward to seeing them built up and in use!

That's an incredible wait time- but hopefully they meet or exceed your expectations when you get them assembled.

I knew places were running behind, but holy cow. Maybe I need to order now for next year's upgrade. Look forward to seeing it all set up. Glad they finally came for you!

In the last 5yrs I have waited no less than 200% the quoted lead time regardless of the manufacture and regardless the length of the lead. Plan accordingly.

    Re: SD retics mansions

Those enclosures look sweet! Can't wait to see them all kitted out with some happy snakes inside.

Coming up on due for some enclosure upgrades over here as well. As much as I like the AP cages I've seen, I'm just not willing to deal with those insane wait times. There are plenty of other decent enclosure manufacturers out there nowadays that can deliver faster.

I'm getting the impression that right now isn't the best of times to go about major caging projects, though. Enclosure prices seem to have risen across the board since lockdown started, on the order of US$30-40 dollars (at least) for a 4' PVC cage. It seems to be due to a combination of supply crunches and increased demand for larger reptile caging. Tangentially, the increased price of lumber means that DIY caging isn't the cheap alternative it used to be. I don't know about the rest of y'all, but I feel like I'm angsting over my current round of caging upgrades a bit more than normal.

The cost of everything has gone up. Hopefully the cost of living gets adjusted soon to adjust for the rise.

Here is jack inspecting the build of the first cage. These large pieces of glass are heavy!
