    Cage Build

Hey peeps, long time no post, but I'm still here along with all our snakes. A lot of our time has been taken up by kids + home improvement projects, but one of my husband's recent builds was a new enclosure for our Bredli. We decided to build because it's cheaper and faster than ordering a cage, and he's pretty handy. I figured you guys would appreciate it more than any of my friends and family, who don't really get the "snake thing."

It's made out of 1/2" MDF, which is a lot less heavy than I was expecting. Inside is coated with Drilock and all edges are sealed. Outside is painted with semi-gloss black paint. Doors are sliding tempered glass ordered from a local glass shop. Heat panel is our first one from ProProducts using an existing Herpstat thermostat. There are six 2" vents. The building process went pretty smoothly and we are planning to do 3-4 more for other snakes. The only snag we hit is that it as built to be exactly 4x2x2, and it's like 1/8" too long to fit on our shelving unit. It eventually won't matter once we have more of the same cages and stack them, but for now it's on some raised wood on the floor.

Zelda seems pretty happy having more room to roam. I still need to add some more climbing opportunities for her.

Now let's see if I remember how to upload photos.

If it were mine I think I would add some closet rod holders to have some perches.

    Looks great!

    Re: Cage Build

Yep! Get some perches, shelves, sticks, ledges, etc in there and proceed to be entertained. Morelia make great use of pretty much any climbing opportunities they’re given

Looking good- I really like that corner "rock-hide" thing. Lot's of air space for more climbing opportunities- I'd get some branches or rods installed too.
