    Those "half logs" don't really qualify as hides- they're too "open" & offer NO sense of security from predators etc. Nice "cage furniture" is all they're good for. And if the other one is too big, that's why he's shunning them both.

    You want the style hides with a fairly low ceiling, & only one doorway that's not overly-large. Many brands, sold many places, but get suitable hides! At least 2 equal ones, one for cool side & one for warm side. He's been trying to tell you this as best he can.

    I have some hides like those above. I still usually put moss in them. Just makes any hide that much better, IMHO.

    I agree with swapping out your current hides. I use Reptile Basic hides for all my snakes. Some use them more than others.
