    Pic of Sri

    Hey guys,

Just wanted to share some pics of Sri with ya guys. I am not sure if its a female or a male. The previous owner did not know it too. Im gonna get it probed soon tho. Its about 8 months old and did not even hiss when i transferred it to the new home. Im gonna give it a week to settle down before getting to know it more. Its a gorgeous blood and a captive bred.

    Enjoy!

It is a beauty, and I am not partial to bloods. Anyone know how they got to be called "Blood" pythons, anyway?

Lovely snake! I've always assumed that they call them bloods due to their color but I'm not really sure either. Kara likely knows LOL.

Yes blood because they are often blood red.

Beautiful snake there! Has some lovely cherry color coming in, and I love the pattern!

    Very nice specimen!

I love it when they have the very pronounced ankh's on their heads like that!

    Re: Pic of Sri

Thank you for the kind words. I checked it this morning and it seems to be doing well .. except that it was not in any of the hides .. it was lying in the open .. half buried in the aspen. Is this normal ? The previous owner did not provide any hides for it. The cage setup is a steril tub measuring 2.5 foot wide and about 1 foot in length. I have placed 4 hides (each corner), a water dish, and lots of aspen. Any thoughts ?

    Re: Pic of Sri

Sometimes snakes prefer to dig in substrate rather than go in hides.

Are the hides tight and secure? Are they big enough?
