    Re: Pandora's Thread

Excited to see a fresh coat of paint on this kid! Will be nice to move out of quarantine wearing a new outfit surely. My male Brisbane is sporting the same pre-shed brown coat as well recently. Wouldn't be surprised to find his eyes opaque when I get home later

    Re: Pandora's Thread

Pandora peeled today! She's looking and feeling great now that she's got that old skin off. Her lemon yellows came back with her shed, and it looks like she's growing into a very nice tri-color. That happens to be my favorite Paupuan phenotype, so you can imagine how happy I am!

It feels nice being able to close out her quarantine with a perfect shed. I probably should have performed a series of nido tests for a quarantine this short -- more than a few people are starting to advocate for year-long quarantines now -- but given who she came from and the fact that I'm not confident in my ability to perform the at-home test properly for this squirmy baby, I'm going to let it slide. She's going to be kept at a distance from the boas when she leaves her current room anyway.

Baby's first porch time! She went about it a lot more calmly than I expected. Her chestnut flames were nice and fired up today -- I still can't believe that the tri-color of my dreams is actually here!

Pandora is now a hair shy of 2'6" and 80g empty. She is next in line for a caging upgrade, as she's longer than Kuzco and generally outpacing him in terms of growth. I'm not sure about putting her in a cage with sliding polycarbonate doors, though, which are all the rage with the manufacturers I like right now. Those doors have a little bit of give to them, and she could potentially wiggle her way out if she angles herself properly and flexes hard enough. Hmmm...

    Re: Pandora's Thread

My sweet summer child! Pandora officially turned one a few days ago. Hopefully there will many more to come -- I'd like to see her into her thirties at least, though I'll be grateful for as much time she can give me.

I'll be putting in the order for her "big girl" cage and its kit this week. After a bit of internal debate and budgeting, I've decided to go all-out and make a proper slice of the south Papuan savanna for her, with Wasur National Park and the Trans-Fly savanna and grasslands as my inspiration. It'll probably take the rest of the summer to collect everything and properly put it together. In the meantime, I'll probably be kitting out a spare ten gallon tank I have on hand for some roomier summer quarters -- she's starting to look a tad cramped in that quarantine tub of hers!

    Re: Pandora's Thread

Got some nice pics during Pandora's tub cleaning today. She wasn't amused at being made to sit in her old deli cup again, but she was very happy to receive a new hide box. And I'm happy because I finally managed to nab a shot of her sitting still on a neutral background with lighting that shows her colors true-to-life. She really is a yellow little python!

Big girl cage build is proceeding apace. The final orders for supplies should go in soon, and hopefully I'll be able to swing by an expo to pick out a nice piece of "statement" wood in the near future.

You definitely picked a winner of a critter with that girl! Looking forward to seeing her slice of West Papuan savannah built up soon!

Somebody's new cage is on the way!

Pandora's sitting pretty at 2'6.7" and 95g now. She's definitely ready for her adult enclosure, which should hopefully be kitted out within a month or so. I'm waiting to finish the initial build -- ie. the cage itself, its stand, and the foliage and wood accents -- before ordering the Universal Rocks decor and lights. Part of me is also considering switching out the hot hide rock for one of those slate stacks and/or an across-the-cage pole perch. Hmmm.
