    Morph identification help

Hi everyone, my girlfriend and I have had our ball python for a few months and she’s happy and healthy. I’m just confused, the breeder told us the parents were banana pied x black pastel het pied.

I don’t see how those morphs could create whatever it is she looks like. She’s certainly pied but other than that I don’t know. Just looking for your guys’ opinions on what she could be. Bit of a noobie here, thanks in advance.

She looks like a pied to me, and I would agree, certainly not banana or black pastel.

banana pied x black pastel het pied:
    1/8 black pastel banana pied
1/8 black pastel banana het pied
    1/8 black pastel pied
    1/8 black pastel het pied
    1/8 banana pied
    1/8 banana het pied
    1/8 pied <------- yours
    1/8 het pied

With banana and black pastel, they are incomplete dominant, so there is a 1/2 chance to pass that gene to each baby and get a visual. With pied, it is recessive, so both parents must at the very least carry the gene in order to get a visual. Because one is a visual, and the other is a carrier, there is 1/2 chance of pied as well. If you look down that list, they are half black pastel, half banana, half pied, distributed among different combo possibilities.

If there is some confusion, feel free to ask more questions and I'll do my best to answer.

I'll let Nikkubus handle the genetics as that's not my specialty.

I will say that's a beautiful snake and it's great you are enjoying her.

Great, thanks for the helpful reply. So she is a pied ball, would she be pos het for anything or? Just thinking of good males to pair her with for future breeding.

Nope, no hets unless there is something entirely different hiding in there that the breeder didn't know about (it happens from time to time).
