Judging by the parents of your girl, I think a few sheds down the road you are going to see electrical yellows.

Thanks for reminding me that Jewel could have a splash of diamond in her. I know Nick said one of the parents had "some" diamond traits, but he was speculating.

I'm waiting on the new book. I know Nick mentioned jungle and coastal sharing the same DNA and there was some discussion that a jungle could be a northern locale of coastal.

In any event, I think you just need a Bredli and you'll be pretty close to The Complete Carpet Python keeper.

Might as well buy another cage LOL!
Might as well buy another cage and an extra apartment just for the critters hah! Need a Bredli someday and I'd still love some Metcalfei as well. Seriously need to close the doors here and not add anything until new animals hatch here someday hopefully. Plenty of space for everything here to grow up and have plenty of cage space for them all to comfortably occupy.

Anxiously awaiting the new book as well. When I talked to Nick on the phone last spring he said they're not using any of the same pictures and are shooting for 500 pages. Can't wait to get my hands on a copy when it's done!

I'll be your accountabili-buddy, Crook! Say it with me: no more new additions* until everyone is in adult caging! Woooooo

I too am eagerly awaiting Nick's book. After hearing about all of the work that's gone into it it sounds like it's going to be phenomenal. Hopefully it'll come out sooner rather than later -- I held off buying an old copy since the new one's due to come out soon, so I don't have a carpet book on the shelf yet. That's a gap in the literature that certainly needs to be addressed!

Thank you, WP! Only problem with that is I’ll have adult caging and then some probably by March. No more new additions until they crawl out of an egg in my care or I until I have tenure haha! Whichever comes first.

Gotta get everyone on their adult size prey before considering anything new too. Don’t want to exceed the storage capacity of my little deep freezer either

I am feeling this part of the post. Along with the purchase of any new animals is going to have to be a second deep freezer, and taking the time to make room for it. Right now there is plenty of room, but my current freezer is going to be jam packed just before stuff starts hatching this year. I like to keep a good surplus in case sizes go out of stock.

Exactly. I can fit a year of prey for everything in a small portion of my freezer currently, but 6 out of 7 here will eventually be eating med-large-xl+ at some point. If I intend to stock up in my usual manner at those sizes I’ll take up a good bit of space.

Two rats down the hatch and second bowel movement so we had a first handling session while I cleaned her tub tonight. Easily the calmest of all my carpets on the first handling. So bright and so black and will only get more so. Love it.

Such clear colors, he almost doesn't look real!

Yeah, she's stunning for sure. Cant wait to see her after a few more sheds and see her colors continue to develop. Neon, electric yellows and deep, jet blacks.

Three meals down, second time handling, been here three weeks tomorrow. Partially terrible lighting, partially looking a little dull. Headed into her first shed here? Time will tell...
