    To be honest all my Kings and Rat snakes have always been fabulous eaters so I put a small piece of card in ( earlier) then drop feed on top of the card to avoid any bites -even then I have to move fast . .

    I do that too (feed on a card) for my Western longnose snake: he's usually a shy feeder, so he wants privacy & takes his time; he also has a narrow face & can only eat fuzzies at the most, so he eats about 5 or 6 per meal- he's a "big" adult. (for his species, anyway) He actually tagged me once in a fit of eagerness to eat, & I was so shocked!
