Best Place to get a Thermostat?

My temporary setup is using a ZooMed thermostat but cheap electronics make me nervous. I'm getting an animal plastics with an installed pro product RHP soon. I hope. Been waiting a little over 5 months now >.>. I'm looking for a reliable thermostat with fail safe features. The one I've heard about is herpstat. Where is the best place to get one of these? Are there other high end thermostats that you would recommend with a reliable place to get them? Thanks!

Not a thermostat. That's a thermoMETER. Measures temp, does not regulate it.

I recommend Spyder Robotics/Herpstat. Second vote goes to Vivarium Electronics/Reptile Basics.

I thought I read that too fast hahah. I like Spyderrobotics too, nice people, great equipment, wouldn't use any other.

Herpstat for sure. Last time I googled around and found site that was reputable and good price with a coupon going iirc. Otherwise they're pretty much the same MAP pricing.

Oo Spyder Robotics has a Wi-fi connected version? They say it's a new product. How new? Has anyone tried one? That would be nice to be able to check parameters when away and get alerts when something goes wrong. I hope they come up with an app for it like Nest or something similar.

I inquired. Here is what they replied with.

The Herpstat 2 SpyderWeb can upload the status to our site so when you are out of town you can log into the herpstat.com site and view your temps. You can also schedule it to send an email ever so often so you can check on it that way. You can't change the settings remotely with those but it lets you keep an eye on things.

That's pretty neat. I read all the features on the site. It a bit archaic to use email and having to login through a browser. But its nice that the option exists to be able to see what parameters are doing for peace of mind.

Ordered one just after they went live, needed a new X2 capable thermostat and the Spyderweb feature seemed neat enough to spring the extra few bucks.

It’ll be interesting to see how it functions.

edit to add: sales went live at the turn of the year, not sure if any are ‘in the wild’ yet.
