Quick Herpstat / AP T10 Question

I ordered two AP T10's with basking shelf, LED, and RHPs. I am looking at getting a Herpstat thermostat to control the environment and have two quick questions:
    1. Do I need to get a Herpstat 4 in order to control two RHPs and two sets of LEDs?
    2. Does anyone know if the AP LED's are dimmable?

I am just wondering if people with multiple cages use the Herpstat to control lighting in addition to temperature, or do you simply have lights controlled with a cheap on/off timer.

Re: Quick Herpstat / AP T10 Question

Herpstat 4 just for the sake of the lights may be a bit overkill but it'll do the trick. I don't believe their LEDs are dimmable so controlling them with a Herpstat would function the same as using a light timer (On/Off) if I'm not mistaken. I've had AP cut the channels for LEDs in the past and then I just put my own strip of remote controlled/dimmable/multicolor LEDs in myself. I pretty much just turn them on when I need to see in the enclosure using white during the day and red at night.

Re: Quick Herpstat / AP T10 Question

To add to above, the Herpstat 4 can control 4 things. So, that can include lights if you're not using it for anything else. I have a Herpstat 2 on two enclosures, controlling the heat on each. But, the LED lights are on a smart switch, and goes off and on every day at the same time.

But in general, I agree that putting the LEDs on the Herpstat is overkill. But, if the Herpstat port is free, go for it.

I actually had this same question last week so I gave the good folks at AP a call and YES the LED strip is dimmable. They do not come with a dimmer, so you would need to hook it up to the herpstat or a manual/smart dimmer plug in order to dim them.
