I really like the look of pieds that are 50% colour and 50% white and wondered if there are any health issues that can arise with the different morphs (as in dogs rarer colours can come with health conditions) just wondering if this is anything to think about
I’ve got a beaut Pied Royal and I’ve never heard anything negative about them ..

The only thing that springs to mind is the ‘Spider wobble ‘ that a few morphs have ...

Someone will be able to list them all for you I’m sure ..

    Please don't name him Monty!

Just kidding. I know it's the law over there.

(Still kidding! Good luck with your new baby! Snakes are awesome and I can't believe I waited so long to get one!)

About the only one you'd generally want to avoid in terms of genetic issues are any variations of the spider gene, they have an inherent neurological problem that causes them to have varying degrees of locomotion issues (flailing their heads around with reckless abandon, accidentally biting themselves, difficulty feeding because they can't land a hit on their meals, ect.). There are some others with similar issues like womas and champagnes but spiders are easily the most common.

Here's a general list of morphs with known issues to get a fuller idea.

So provided a pied you're looking at is free of these genes it should be just fine. Excellent choice there btw, almost got a pied myself but they were just beyond my price range so I went with a banana morph (who while on the above list, only has the quirk of having sex-linked offspring most of the time and nothing actively detrimental). He's a beauty and a total sweetheart.
