2 VE Hobbystats burnt up - design flaw FYI

I bought 2 VE 9Vivarium Electrics) Hobbystats in 2019. Both burnt up within a month of eachother. Taking them apart, you can see from the pics that the resistors burnt through the board but the fuses were never blown. Also the "radiator" component designed to radiate heat sits on top of a sensitive controller component that should be designed to be placed on the other side of the board. Both the boards inside the thermostats were "rev 3.0 (revision 3.0) and manufactured in 2018 ... but with such a big design flaw I am skeptical of what is going on inside other VE units an will not be replacing with VE. Does anyone have a list of thermostats that will shut off power to the heat mats / radiant heaters if they malfunctions vs those that won't? I want to look at schematics now before I buy a replacement....
room is close enough temp wise right now to take a few days.

I also have a VE Hobbystat....so far it's been great, and its been up an running for 2 years.

But I have also heard that they are faulty

I think a Herpstat is probably the way to go. Which reminds me I need to do this sooner than later.
