    Soaking before urate and blood

I just notice that my 3 year old bp bleed after an urate, he also seems to be soaking before he urate. He unrated around his water bowl, I saw a little bit of blood there, I flipped over his hide and saw a trail of blood, not a lot but the trail was still like 8inches. His entire bedding was wet so I immediately threw them out and put in new paper towels. So I Didn’t get a pic. Winter is coming so the ambient temp did drop to around 73to 77. What is wrong with him? Do I need to take him to a vet?

An 8" trail of blood, even a thin one, would concern me. You mention he's on paper towels, was he ever on other substrate, anything that he might have swallowed a piece of with a meal that was sharp (like a wood chip or stick)? Don't know what's wrong, could also be a urate stone that's irritating his cloaca, but yes, it's a good idea to see the vet with him, as it could be something else too.

Re: Soaking before urate and blood

I got him 4 month ago, he was on repti chip back then. 4 months is a long time and I believe this is the first time I saw this amount of blood. His vent area did look red but not swollen after he urated. It doesn’t look red anymore. I did also find a little red dot under his belly, looks like a bug or something bite him. I checked for mites and did not find any

FYI, there are intestinal diseases that can cause bloody smears- snakes don't bleed from a mite-bite, the mites suck the blood out. And yes, he could have some Repti-chips stuck in his intestine all this time, unable to digest or defecate it out, & all the while causing internal damage. Vet visit good idea.

He urated again and no blood this time, can it still be a blockage then.

Maybe it was just a hard urate stone that irritated his cloaca when he passed it- hopefully it won't recur.
