    Room thermostat

Does anyone have any good recommendations on a thermostat for my reptile room? I usually keep the room between 80-82 degrees for ambient temperature and I use an oil filled heater if that matters. I currently have a thermostat (not sure of the brand) that I got used from a friend but it's old and it's starting to malfunction. Sometimes I'll go in my room and the temp will be about 5-10 degrees lower! So I'm in the market for for a new one and would love to hear everyone's reviews and advise on different ones. Thanks all!

    Re: Room thermostat

I honestly have been using an analog Delonghi oil filled radiator dialed to the approximate temp I want on the heater itself and then using a spare jumpstart thermostat to set the specific temp. Worth noting is that I only have the Minimum power switch turned on for the radiator itself, adjust the dial and fiddle with it to just slightly above my desired temp, then set the thermostat for the temperature I want the room actually regulated to.

The jumpstart is rated to 1000watts. The radiator is 1500watts total, 600 on the Min switch and 900 on the Med switch.

Having said that I’m looking into a VE Hi-Power thermostat designed specifically for oil filled radiators. Currently sold out on reptile basics but hopefully back in stock soon.

    Re: Room thermostat

I have a comfort zone oil filled radiator with an analog dial like that. I have a jumpstart thermostat like that for my corn snakes tank since he's in a different room because of heating requirements. I didn't think to use that type of thermostat for an entire room. My room is pretty tiny, it's only 5.5x7.5 and I use a lux thermostat but like I said it's old and faulting out. Now that I know that type of thermostat will work I'll probably look into that.
