    Retic Caging Reccomendations?

Recently got back into the trade and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a Platinum Sunfire Albino we got? I've had burms but they never really like to go up so floor space was the main objective. Would getting the widest, longest, and tallest cage available be a waste of vertical space? I would like to provide her the largest possible but also figure I could possibly balance requirements with possibly room for second in our new reptile room size depending. Aside from the biggest on Animal Plastics does anyone have any good recommendations and also a place to find large decor? I highly doubt the community would like me sawing down a tree just to get a good branch set lol.

The biggest cage you can afford the animal certainly isn’t a bad thing especially with what will become a 15’+ snake. As for cage furnishings, I found simpler to be better with retics when I kept them as they are bulldozers that also pee more than any other python species I’ve worked with. Maybe look at local landscaping places for various stakes and poles of sorts for climbing/enrichment opportunities for your snake.

I mean I'd love to get her a double wide lmao. In all seriousness though I am torn between prefab or building. If I built my own I could use the entire 20' wall length and make them stack...but I am not very good at making anything other than a wooden box so the door would be a problem lol. The Animal Plastics 96" seems a bit small though imo so was trying to find something longer.

Herptasic is in NC and they have a 96"x30"x30". If you can pick it up that would save a lot on shipping.

I think you can custom order longer enclosures also.

I have the t100 (8’x4’x4’) from ap coming. It would certainly last you a while, depending how big she gets.

You might want one anyway, just for you. Move out & give her your place when she gets too big to wrestle. I'm envisioning a "birds & mammals welcome" door mat at the front door...

No cage manufacturer makes anything longer than 8’x4’, standard size for large sheets of wood/pvc/etc. Could order multiple large cages, cut a pass through between two ends and connect them though.

Check local Carpenters or Trade Schools, somebody might want a project. AP will build a longer cage but the wait time could be a year for custom work.

    Good luck!

I recommend building an Arboreal enclosure, retics can be semi-arboreal or mostly-arboreal.

My retic spends about 75% of her time in her trees.
