Absolutely. It will protect against any spills or urate explosions. Sealing might also help with keeping the humidity in.

My BP isn't in an AP but I plan to get one for him once he gets bigger. What does sealing the AP mean?

Re: Question about Temps / New AP Cage

It just means to seal the interior of the enclosure with waterproof sealant to make sure it doesn't leak. All AP enclosures come with it.

You do have to air out the enclosure and let it cure for at least few days (I remember I let my stand for a week) before putting anything live in there.

Re: Question about Temps / New AP Cage

So my RHP kicks off when the hot side hits about 87/88 degrees. The issue is, inside the hide box, it's about 84 degrees.

Since moving in, he's been in his hot hide the entire time. He seems happy, and already crushed a rat....but I'm not sure if I'm providing the proper temps?

Cool side is staying consistently in the 79-81 degree range. I do have a hot spot directly under the RHP that hits 90 degrees but drops once it kicks off. Humidity could be a bit better as well but overall I'm really happy with everything.

I was thinking of drilling holes in the hide box to let more heat in. I'm using one of those basic black plastic hide boxes. Or should I just leave things be?

I’d either leave things as they are or dial your warm side temp up a degree or two if you want it warmer inside the hide. Otherwise it sounds about dialed in

Re: Question about Temps / New AP Cage

Don't drill any holes, your BP will be perfectly fine.

If he's eating and your cool temps are at what you're posted, you're golden. Don't fix what ain't broken.
