    1300g 2 year old

    Hello,

I have an almost two year old female that currently weights 1300g, eating well.
Would it be ok to try breeding her this winter? Or better to wait another year?

    Thanks

    Paddy

Three is better then two, IMO. What ever works for you an your snake is what it boils down too.

    Good luck!

    Re: 1300g 2 year old

I had a girl that at two was right where yours is now. By the time December came around she hit 1500 grams so I paired her with a proven male. She laid 10 eggs for me (first clutch), 9 of which went to full term and hatched more than a month before she would have turned 3. By contrast I have a 3 year old girl that is still hanging around 1100 grams and haven't even tried pairing her yet. I have a 3000 gram girl that I paired and she just didn't go even though there were definite locks. I guess the most important thing is that she is of size, 1500 grams, and she has good body tone. Beyond that, it isn't really up to you anyways. You can try and put her with a male and if she is ready she'll go and if she's not, she won't. Best of luck whatever you decide.

    Re: 1300g 2 year old

Just to keep this thread useful for those that find it, thought I’d update.

I started pairing her in November last year, which seems to have triggered an amazing feeding response.
she is taking good sized meal without fail every week, and as of yesterday is 1600g.
Actually I think she would eat more often if I let her, but I don’t want to over feed her.

she is still locking and eating so I’m hopeful she’s building right now.

You can feed her more if you'd like. If she is eating mediums then you can always throw a small at her in between feeding days. If she is eating smalls, you can probably have her take two in a row. She is eating strongly because her body needs the fuel to develop the follicles and build her body for eggs. You can't really over feed her at this time and once she is closer to going, she will likely go off feed. The more she can build now, the better. Good luck
