    Crickets

Ok, I've decided to buy a lot of 500 crix for my beardie, but I have no clue how to properly care for crickets so they don't all die and so they don't make Kota sick. Can anyone fill me in on housing, feeding, lighting? if applicable? Thanks!

    Re: Crickets

I personally keep my crickets in a large Kritter Keeper. You might want more than 1 Kritter Keeper depending on how many crickets you plan on keeping at any given time. As for lighting, they just get the ambient light from the room - I don't give the crickets anything extra with regards to temperature or lighting. I feed them several Cricket Bites every couple of days. This meets their requirements for both food and water. Inside their enclosure, I keep a couple pieces of egg-carton, and some coconut-husk from my snake's enclosure. I swap this out with "new" substrate with every new batch of crickets.

    I hope this helps

    Re: Crickets

I just made a coll cricket cage for about $20 this weekend for my feeders.
    Heres what you need.

    1 Lg Rubbermade Tub - $10
    1 Roll wrapping paper - $1-$2
    2 Rolls Wide electrical Tape - $2
1 Soldering gun - $5 (most people have one or can borrow one)

Solder breathing holes all along the side, I wouldn't believe there can really be too many. Cut two holes in the top the diameter of your papr rolls. Cut your paper roll in half, cover one end with a piece of paper(so cricks don't get stuck to the tape), spiral the tape down the rolls, and last tape the tops with extra thick tape so it doesn't fall in the bin. I throw in cricket bits, potatoes, oranges, greens, and other various fresh vegatables. Keep in mind cricks STINK, so try to put them in a place that won't stink so badly. I could probaly house 1K cricks easy into the enclosure described. You could also do this with smaller plastic containers and papaer towel rolls if you wanted too. The crickets climb up into the card board rolls then you tap it a couple times so you dont get to many , next put it in your beardy cage and tap them in there as needed. I hope this helps, it is much better than any pet store alternative in terms of price.

Lars, can you post some pictures? It's kind of hard to picture what you're talking about

I will have some pics up tonight. I got the batteries, but the wife hid my cord to the camera.
