    Need some advice

Ok so i just picked up my first boa a week ago and want some advice on her. I want to know if she is a BCC or BCI. Her belly has pinkish splotches and it worried me so i came here to see what you guys think it could be. It has no texture and feels normal and she doesn't appear to be in any discomfort. The pattern of the splotches also matches the pattern of the pinkish pattern on her side so maybe shes just unique? She also whistles slightly when i handle her in a quiet room. When she is in her enclosure she doesn't whistle anymore so maybe she just gets excited when handled and is breathing hard? She is over 1 years old or well that's what the previous owner told me and pushing a little over 4ft. He was feeding her large rats weekly and i have moved her down to mediums every 2 to 3 weeks. Any answers to my questions would be very helpful! Here is a link to all the pics of her

Boa Imperator. Good job on dialing back the feeding to a reasonable schedule. Nice looking critter.

Definitely a nice looking boa imperator.
Some boas just make huffs and puffs sometimes, just keep a look out for it worsening, runny nose etc. then a trip to the vets to get sorted

    Re: Need some advice

Looks like a nice BI to me, but I am not an expert on genealogy.

A couple things on the breathing. 1. As Rich said, they can huff and puff when agitated but are usually bluffing. 2. Big snakes have big lungs and can breathe out pretty heavy and can sound like a hiss or huff, but it's just breathing.

My boas often get a little pinkish on their bellies after I handle them. It's not there when I take them out, but it is when I put them back, especially Behira, my Ghost BI. My VPI t+ sunglow motley jungle, Jeff, has a pinkish belly anyway, and my BC, Feliz, has reddish on his belly as well.

Could be markings, but see if it darkens or is more pronounced after handling.

Good job on changing the feeding schedule. Less is more with Boas.

What humidity and temps are you maintaining? If humidity is in the 60% range and temps range from about 88-90F hot spot, with about 80-84F ambient, and a 78-80F cool side, you are golden.

However, especially if you keep other reptiles, QUARANTINE, QUARANTINE, QUARANTINE.

If you are not sure how to properly do that, just ask.

Also, any other questions on Boas, just ask as there are quite a few boa peeps on here as you can see .

Finally, if you haven't hook trained, I would. All my boas and my Carpet python are hooked trained. Again, if not sure how to do that, just ask. Boas are very food driven and hook training does wonder for them and for preventing a bite.
