Animal Plastics T8 vs T10
I'm am looking to get an animal plastics cage for my female ball python. Should I get the T8 or the T10? The T10 is taller, but cost more, so thoughts?
Also.. how do you light/heat an animal plastics cage? At the moment I have my heat mat under the glass and might lighting outside the tank. Not sure how it works with the animal plastics cages being so enclosed so to speak.
Thank you!

Re: Animal Plastics T8 vs T10
Animal plastics can add screen cutouts. Honestly though go with a pro products radiant heat panel. All you need and makes it easy as pie. Make sure to have it on a thermostat. I have a t8, (also have 2 t25s and about to order a t100). The t8 is really about 11” of interior height. Not a bad cage, if I did it over again though I would probably go with the t10 which I believe is 2’ tall. A ball python will be ok with the 1’ of room, it just depends on your preference really. It will be easier to clean with 2’ height, but not bad with 1’. I also use paper with it, so keep in mind if your going to use a substrate such as reptichip that will eat away at your height too. So 1” of substrate means 10” interior room.

Re: Animal Plastics T8 vs T10
I have the a T8 and a T10. I like the extra height of the T10. But, also, the T8 I think is still considered a quick-ship item. You'll get it faster, though it'll still take a pretty time to get. The T10 took me what seemed like forever to get. With that said, I'm very happy with them.
I had them install an RHP from Pro Products. I ordered from Pro Products, and had them ship to Animal Plastics. I only use the RHP, and no belly heat.

For a few bucks more I'd definitely take the T10 even though the T8 is a "quick ship" item. The extra height is nice especially for cleaning or if you have to use larger hides. I'd also add the basking shelf. My snakes use them a lot. I use RHPs in my T10s and have UTHs on my T8s. They'll both work fine for a BP.

I went through this struggle myself last year. Ended up getting the T10...honestly wasn't that much more and the height is well worth it. Definitely get the belly tape they offer as well as a pro products radient heat panel. It's such an amazing setup. I know AP has another facility setup so hopefully they can pump more products out....took forever last year to arrive, but well worth the wait! Good luck!

belly heat and a rhp would be overkill

Re: Animal Plastics T8 vs T10
I'm running RHPs only and they give me a great basking area, and keeps the ambient temps well within range, even during the winter months. Granted, it doesn't get as cold here in the Southeast as it does in other places.

Re: Animal Plastics T8 vs T10
Definitely go with a T10, those few inches make a big difference. Cleaning is a MUCH easier as well!
For heating, I use Reptile Basics RHPs with a proportional thermostat that provide 82F ambient temp. Had the panels for about 6 years now with no issues and they're still going strong.
My T8 is on top of my T10 so I'll post a photo tomorrow in the daytime so you have a visual reference regarding the difference.
