I'd suggest looking into Crawl Cay and Tarahumara Boas.

I kind of fall into the wait and see camp.

A whole lot of dynamics change when you become new parents - and some ot them don't make sense to one partner or the other. That IN NO WAY makes them invalid in the dynamics of the relationship.

Take your time, enjoy the new experiences you are about to have.

If, in the future, things get back to a point you both feel you are ready for a new herp experience - then at least you know you will be entering it together.

It will work out so much smoother for both of you.

I have a dumerils boa and corns but I will say no more. If you had done your research on this species, just like the blood pythons, the weight/baby discussion should have been done before bringing the snakes home.

And what is your motivation to breed? There is just as much risk in breeding boas as breeding pythons.
I agree with Cheesenugget. Get your home life in order then look to the future with pets. When your kid is 5 or 6ish and your family can make educated decisions on what to do next, then revisit this.

Besides... you get to teach a new generation about herps.

There were only two there comments prior to you saying everyone is being negative. I simply suggested a species and one person share very valid thoughts and concerns. Hardly negative... If at all.

I personally can't stand the revolving door of animals. I just don't think it's fair to the animals, they're living creatures, not trading cards. My Borneo STP is a HUGE PAIN in my butt. But I took him on, and he'll stay here for that reason. I took him on, FOR LIFE.

And it may be best to wait and see how your life changes after your baby is brought into the world. Maybe what seems like a "safe bet" now may not be a year from now. Then do you just re-home the animals again?

    Just food for thought.

And if you do decide you "need" to buy snakes now rather than waiting, I still suggest looking into IJ/Papuan carpets.

I thought the carpet pythons need a place to climb? I am trying to keep them in tubs.

Oh oh oh, sorry if I missed that. I don't use tubs, can you get tubs with more height or does that kinda defeat the purpose?

The thing is I already have the tubs. They are the cb-70 from reptile basics.

I really don't want to go for ball pythons, because they are over bred as it is. That is why I am looking for a different species.

Gotcha. Although i know you're no noobie, I always advise people get the animal they want rather than an animal to fit an existing enclosure. Tubs are relatively cheap. I personally wouldn't eliminate certain species cause I had the tubs. The tubs are just a box, the animals are what's important.

I'm sure the tubs could be sold since they're quality RB tubs. But again, I'm not a tub guy so just a thought.

But that's me, and my two cents. Good luck with your decision
