    Water Proofing for Climbing Branches

I have a whole stack of oak branches I've sanded and baked for my corn snake, but I haven't treated them with anything yet. Is there a specific product you all recommend for water proofing your climbing branches? I didn't see anything suitable or chemical free at Home Depot. Thanks!

I have a few real branches that I use in each enclosure. I think you've done far more than I have to treat the ones I have. I actually have the bark and everything on them. I washed them when I first got them, and they probably sat for a year or so before I installed them.

    6 foot tree.

4 foot branch. This one is going on 6 years old.

I haven't had any issues with rot, bugs or anything. My enclosures aren't in a constant state of humidity and I would guess you will have lower levels for a corn snake.

Try them out as they are and see how they do.

You probably won't need to do anything else.

I've used a NO-VOC waterproofing product in the past for snake furnishings, but don't recall specifics now, it's been years. May be other brands available now anyway.

I've suggested to others using such a thing on branches but never have used it on my own branches as of yet, since I have an unlimited supply & as posted above, have
also had no real issues with natural branches from outside. And I mean too big to bake in my oven also...I do spray them down thoroughly with my chlorhexidine (diluted)
& dry in hot sun before using. A few have had bark beetles in...they bore holes eating the wood, but are harmless to snakes.

Mostly the waterproofing should help preserve your branches & make them easier to clean, assuming you have to buy them or have a harder time to acquire them.

I used a product on my tortoise tank from home depot that I believe was called Kennel Seal. You could look into that to see if its what youre looking for.
