Pooping problem?
Lucie is about 4 months old. The last time she pooped (a good amount) was 3 weeks ago. She's pooped 2 other times since then, both very small. This last week I started feeding her more food to accommodate her weight. But she's now eaten 4 rats in the last three weeks with little to no poop. So my question is, how much SHOULD she be pooping?

When she NEEDS to go. Young snakes are eating younger rodents (that have smaller bones & less hair, ie. are more digestible), so there is less waste & it just takes a
while sometimes before they need to 'go'. Keep in mind that defecation also requires using some water from the body to flush out leftover stuff, & snakes evolved by
conserving both food AND water. Healthy snakes do not usually defecate once for each meal consumed, but there is no set formula. Some snakes go more often than
others...blood pythons, for example, are notorious for holding it in for months at a time.

Thats all very useful info, thank you very much.
On that note, she just pooped. A lot. (To be fair it was after giving her a warm soak and while we were massaging her tail end a bit)

Many times if you encourage more activity, it will have that effect. Or as we like to say, put on your best silk shirt & let your snake snuggle around your shoulders for a while... Sometimes cleaning their cage seems to inspire them too...as if they just like to mess with us?
