Releasing a wild caught Dekays brown snake...

I caught a very young Dekays brown snake in the warehouse at my job last spring/summer. She was very small and dehydrated but otherwise healthy. I brought her home and she was been doing extremely well. I’m wanting to release her as soon as the weather warms up and stays warm for the most part. I have a concern though, since I’ve been hand feeding her do y’all think she will be successful in the wild? I’m not getting rid of her because I have to, I’m just wanting her to be where she belongs. Thanks for any advice.

She should be fine as long as she has available food and water.

Re: Releasing a wild caught Dekays brown snake...

There is a lake right down the road from where I live and a nice park around it. There are a few streams running into the lake. I figured I would feed her really well the night before I let her loose then take her to the lake and release her in the area near on e of the streams. She’s no where near tame, I can’t hold her but I’ve only tried once. When I touch her she takes off and hides in her tank. I caught her once to clean her tank and she musked (is musked a word? Lol) on me. So she still has her wild side. I’ve just taken care of her for so long and I’d hate to know releasing her would end up with her dying but I guess I’d never know. Thanks for you advice.
