    Is this scale rot?

I noticed about a week ago that my ball python had a new brown mark by his neck on his underside and I started to worry it was scale rot. I had him on coconut fibers but then immediately switched it to newspapers to lower the humidity. My thermometers recently broke and I ordered new ones on Amazon, but COVID-19 is making it difficult to receive them quickly. I also ordered new cypress mulch instead of coconut fibers that will get here on Saturday. I have been applying Vetericyn plus on the affected area for two days now and it seems to have gotten better, but not disappeared.

You said your thermometer broke, but what about your thermostat? Do you have a thermostat? What´s your husbandry like?
