    This is sad

Just watched this on CNN.com and it saddens me that so many snake owners (and pet owners in general) can be so heartless and irresponsible. I also found it sad that they put it down being that it seemed like it had a surprisingly gentle disposition given the circumstances. I wish they would have found him/her a sanctuary of some sort to live out the rest of their life under proper conditions.

I saw that & am sad too...it was an obvious pet that was dumped. But the sanctuaries are pretty full of such unwanted snakes...too many have been produced & then
given up when ppl find they can't afford to feed them or can no longer handle or house them. I wonder how long the poor thing suffered being stuffed in a tub, even
    before being dumped outside...

I'll go one step further, for any place it's still legal to own a giant snake, I think they should only be available by special permit, to reduce all the impulse buys.
Unfortunately, that snake (in story) was illegal from the start...probably why no attempt to save it. Just...sad.
