    Lesser Pied Project Thoughts

I’m curious to see what people’s thoughts are on this project.

Is it a project you’re involved in?

Do you avoid it because who needs another white snake?

If you’re involved in it, what combos have you attempted to get some pattern back into it?

    Whaddya think?

    Re: Lesser Pied Project Thoughts

I work with Pied and Lesser, but, I wouldn't bother targeting a Lesser Pied. There are easier ways to make white/whitish snakes without using Piebald. Sure, a Lesser Pied may occasionally have some patterning: But nowhere near a Super Fire or Leopard Ivory.

Assuming you do produce a Lesser Pied: Then where does your project go from there? What do you add into it to improve it? Enchi? No thanks. Banana + Orange Dream + Lesser + Pied: Cool hatchling appearance and interesting coloration--I'm told it fades super bad as it ages. Haven't seen any pictures of an adult (probably for a reason).

I'm still waiting to see a 'must-have' morph that uses these genes...until then Lesser Pied is a no-go for me.

Not a fan for various reasons, number one is the chance of producing animals with small eyes.

I’m actually working the project. I’m curious on if Blackhead is going to put some pattern back in it. It seems to do wonders for Champagne. I also may try Bongo.

    Re: Lesser Pied Project Thoughts

I saw one of these at an expo once. They had the small eye defect. The breeder was set up at the table next to ours, and I heard a lot of uncomfortable sounding 'what's wrong with that snake...?' whispers. That aside, they honestly weren't as high white as a classic BEL, or a Super Fire if you're looking for something with a little colour.

ETA: I was under the impression that they ALL have a small eye defect, just some being more pronounced than others. I wouldn't recommend purposely breeding any animal that has a known defect.
