Concern regarding heat/foil tape fumes
So today I put foil tape on the screen lid of Sahira's enclosure today to help keep more of the humidity in. It has definitely been effective in serving that purpose, but I have noticed that the whole room has a rather strong fume smell from the foil tape. I am very concerned, because I know that snakes have very sensitive respiratory systems and that even burning a candle in the same room can be harmful. How long did it take for the fumes to go away for you guys that use it? Should I have her out with me in the meantime? Am I worrying for nothing?

Fumes from tape? I've used foil tape many times and I've never smelled it. I have a weak sense of smell but I'm wondering if it's something else?

Or maybe it's a weird brand of foil tape? They probably don't all use the same adhesive. Personally I'd avoid using that tape & try to find another brand or another
method to get done what I need to do. (Is it rated for high temperature usage? Just curious what the packaging says?)

Thanks guys! I looked at the foil tape, and I don't still have the packaging, but this is the link to the exact stuff I bought.

So I went back in to look at everything again. The CHE housing looked like it was partially touching the foil, so I use a razor to slice away some of the edges to give the CHE a wider berth. I am hoping that will fix it. I will definitely be continuing to check on her through the evening.

See, the packaging talks about cold weather use, & while it's used for both warm & cool air on HVAC ducts, your CHE is probably a whole lot hotter than the tape
is normally exposed to, or if it is, it's outside where no one is breathing it. I'd make sure I wasn't able to smell anything, or I'd stop using it on my snake enclosure.

Agree. If I can still smell it in an hour or two I will remove it and buy something else.

Maybe giving more distance between the CHE & the tape will be enough...?

The smell dissipated over the course of the evening and is completely gone! It must have been from being a little too close to the CHE. Yay!

I bought a roll from The Bean Farm and never had a problem with it.
