    Longest Incubation Period

Can I have some indication of the longest incubation periods you all have experienced. I have an egg on day 48, showing very little development, there is however movement inside the egg. Incubation temps have been between 29 and 29.5 centigrade. See attached pic.

    Re: Longest Incubation Period

I think this may run to around 75 days if it develops fully at all.

    Re: Longest Incubation Period

Looks pretty empty for 48 days. Eggs that fail to develop often die around the time when your other eggs hatch. People often second-guess themselves whether or not they should have 'cut' the egg. The truth is: it would not have made a difference.

No harm letting it stay in the incubator. @29C I would expect 70 days incubation. 75 Max.

Depends on your temps and you are incubating extremely low so it will take a lot longer.

I incubate at 31 degrees and like clockwork they slit at about 60 days (give a day or two) so at your temps I would say around 70 days, no matter what you do DO NOT cut until you know how long they take to hatch at your temps (based on multiple clutches hatched in the same conditions) or until one slits it's egg.

A little tip here, time to stop with the candling, candling nearing the end of incubation is really not a good idea, this is are you startle the hatchlings making them move and how twisted umbilicus are more likely to happen.

    Re: Longest Incubation Period

Thank You. I have left instructions that if anyone opens the incubator door other than me, fingers will be broken. I intend to open and look again on day 60 which is around 07 March. Would it be okay to open every 5 days after that.

Aaahhh sorry. The baby died in the egg. It was however fully formed. I think it just did not have enough strength to pip.
