    Putting it all down on paper really shows how much thought & preparation you've put into this. And I think they respected that...
    Another way is to list all their objections & answer each one...writing practice comes in handy your whole life, believe me, and it shows you can think logically.
    If they still have questions, you could also send them here to ask us themselves, or possibly check out sources from the library.

    This is exactly what I did to convince my parents to let me have a snake. One of my mom's objections was also the smell, and what persuaded her was taking her to a reptile-specific pet store where she could see (and smell) the enclosures for herself, as well as talk to some of the employees who owned snakes and had actual experience with their lack of odor. Assuming your snakes don't actually stink right now, maybe doing something like this will work for you?
