New member and red tail fan!

Just wanted to say hi and thanks for having me on your site. I’ve got a 1.1/5 year old Colombia , hog island cross. I was intending to get a pure hog island but I think the container was miss labeled at the reptile show. Either way she is a sweet heart and about 50 something inches long I think. Feeding her 1 small rat a week. Very curious and loves to actively leave her cage when I open the door. Like she wants a change of scenery. I can’t figure how to post pictures.

Boas do have a lot of personality...they're also easy to over-feed, & that's probably part of the reason she wants out, lol. She's aware that you seem to
have a problem with rats & she's more than willing to lend a hand, so to speak. Glad you have you join us here.

After reading up on feeding timelines I think I’m going to switch to every other week schedule. I don’t want a overweight snake.

trying to figure out picture postings as i wanted to show a retrofitting of a working fireplace into a snake enclosure. she has since outgrown and about to start construction of a bigger cage. i love creating a new space including large climbing branches etc. i try for a natural looking enclosure. nicer to look at imho and i feel the snake enjoys it. ps - reinz... love tool as well! one of my favorite groups. that and pink floyd. n nice pictures.. walt.

Re: New member and red tail fan!

I opened her enclosure today to retrieve a unused light and mango, that’s her. Name my daughter picked, started to leave so I let her explore a bit. She heads to a raised potted plant in the full sun. Curls around the base and chills. My house is only 70 degrees but I’m hoping she’s ok in full sun. Thoughts?

Question... how much does a shed skin stretch? Approx? My last shed measured around 56 inches. How many inches should I subtract to get a more accurate length?
