    Heat mats

So i recently bought a large wooden vivarium and i have concerns about the heat mat. I know that you shouldn’t put the heat mat inside the vivarium right? But i didn’t want the mat to overheat underneath the vivarium! Ahh what do i dooo?

    Re: Heat mats

I’m thinking of ordering a infrared heat mat to heat up the air, would that be okay for a ball python?

You cant use a Mat in a wooden enclosure. Well i shouldn’t say that, you can use anything even when its dangerous. You need a Radiant Heat Panel like has been mentioned several times. Look it up. I do not know who has them where your located as im in the US.
You can get Bob to ship one but it may expensive shipping idk. Im sure you have them in your country.
Make sure its the kind for a reptile because they run at a safer temp than ones for a room or home.

    Re: Heat mats

To be fair lots of people use heat mats in wooden vivs over here in the uk .. they just HAVE to be regulated by a thermostat.

I’ve still got a couple running as it happens...I’m ultra cautious so even though they’re completely sealed - I put loads of hot glue over the heat mat connection point just in case any water / liquid comes into contact with it .

    Re: Heat mats

OP: You can always use what is called a pig blanket. They are used in wooden containers, and when properly set no issue for thermal burns for small or large constrictors. They are pricey however. RHPs are excellent however.
