How high can you stack PVC enclosures?

How many do you have stacked? What are the measurements? Just curious as to what others see as a realistic and safe number. We're making some upgrades in our reptile room (ordered a rack for the BPs and another PVC so all of our boas can be in PVC). We have will have 4 PVC cages total, all different brands, but all are similar 4x2 measurements. Right now they are on a steel composite shelf as opposed to stacked directly on top of each other, but I'm thinking it would be a lot nicer looking to just be able to stack them.

Maybe I'm overthinking this? Just trying to plan ahead since we have a finite space to work with.

Re: How high can you stack PVC enclosures?

I have (3) 4x2s in one stack and (2) 4x2s in another stack. I could go higher if I wanted but my plan is to have (8) 4x2s stacked on top of (2) 8x2s. I have all AP cages and will most likely stick with them exclusively.

I have stacks of four right now plus pedestal, when I add cages some will be taller in height so I'll only stack it to three cages high, I'm only 5'2" and currently stand on a stool to thoroughly clean the back of my top cages. I think you can pretty much stack to the ceiling if the cages can take it and you want to climb lol.

My tallest stack is five high. Even though I'm just shy of six feet tall I need to stand on a stepstool to clean out the back corners.

Also you want a fairly chill snake to be housed up there, not one that's really squirrely or inclined to come flying out when you open a door.

Thank you everyone! It's a relief to hear we should be fine just stacking (4) 4x2x12"-15" cages and hopefully moving the shelving unit to the garage.

That's a good point! A bit tricky with the boas since they all have pretty good feeding responses. Thankfully most are still pretty small and we have long tongs. Maybe the BCL will go on top. Definitely not the Dumerils. Her face is smushed up against the glass begging as soon as we start feeding everyone. 😆

Put the two taller enclosures on the bottom. Reaching to the back of a 12" tall enclosure is hard enough without having to lie on the floor.
